    21–23 September 2018. «Turbas», Latvia By Guntis Bukalders, BAUC Executive Secretary Almost 60 department leaders with their teams from Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian conferences and church administrators came together for a departmental weekend in «Turbas», Latvia, to meet each other, share their joys and challenges, listen to and pray for each other. We had several guest speakers invited from the Trans–European Division — Karen Holford, Zlatko Musija and Peter Bo Bohsen.   • New Leadership Elected in the Lithuanian Conference

    28–30 September, 2017, Kaunas, LITHUANIA. 54 delegates from the 18 Adventist churches in Lithuania gathered to the Lithuanian Conference 8th constituency meeting. The theme of the constituency meeting was chosen from the book of Revelation 14:7 “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” This Bible text is very dear to all Adventist church members and is part of the Adventist Church mission statement.   • Children’s Orchestra Camp

    Adventist children and youth orchestra camp that was launched in Estonia as a result of the efforts by both Hans Soosaar and the music teacher Raeli Florea (who is also the conductor of the orchestra) celebrated already its fifth anniversary this year. Unlike during previous years, the camp did not take place in Estonia, but in Valka, Latvia, and had more international participants. There were 34 instrumentalists aged 9-24 and in addition to the familiar Latvian children, this year’s camp welcomed young musicians from Lithuania as well. BAUC team invited Adventist church leaders from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to come together for ‘Matrix on Evangelism’ to discuss the current situation of Adventist church in the Baltic countries. The purpose of such a meeting was to initiate an open discussion on challenges that we face and to start looking for the common strategic ideas that would be relevant and common for all three countries. First part of the one-day meeting was devoted to understanding the recent membership trends in the local conferences and exploring possible reasons for the decline in baptisms and worship service attendance.   • Ninety Year Marker For Adventists In Lithuania

    29 April 2017 | Kaunas, Lithuania. Adventists from across Lithuania and beyond joined together on Saturday, 29 April for a 90th birthday celebration. Participants were in a festive mood as the opera singer, Nomeda Kukulskienė performed, as well as the Kaunas Church adult choir, and the youth choir from the Kaunas, Kėdainiai and Šiauliai churches.     On September 22-25 of 2016, BAUC youth department has organised Pathfinder leadership training in Daunoriai village, Lithuania. This much needed training was conducted by the team of Pathfinder leaders from USA. Leader of the team Jonatan Tejel (GC Pathfinder director) has brought along with himself three trusted friends Mark O’Fill (Bible teacher and chaplain at Atholton Adventist Academy in the Columbia Union, Chesapeake Conference), Lile Petry (A carpenter and an ordained elder of Ellijay SDA Church)  and John Swafford (retired pastor and teacher  who served as Georgia – Cumberland Conference Pathfinder/ Adventurer/ Children’s Ministry Director) who spent four days training leaders from all three Baltic countries.     BAUC Leaders Train Lithuanian Pastors

    5 September 2016, Kaunas, Lithuania. BAUC leaders met with the Lithuanian Conference church administration and pastors to discuss their ministry challenges and how to improve church mission in Lithuania. In the opening speech BAUC Secretary Guntis Bukalders encouraged church leaders to think how they could be blessing to somebody. BAUC President David Nõmmik encouraged pastors and church leaders to be trainers of lay people in effective witnessing. He arranged pastors, bible and mission workers in four groups according to their temperaments in order to have teamwork.   • BAUC Constituency Meeting

    May 1–3, Rīga, Latvia. On May 1 Baltic Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church had its quinquennial constituency meeting. Delegates from all three Baltic countries came to review what’s been done and accept the new strategic plan and elect new union leadership for the next five years. Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian conference boards chose 66 delegates to the constituency meeting. 4 delegates represented Trans-European Division (TED) and the General Conference (GC), including Trans-European Division president Bertil Wiklander and secretary Audrey E. Andersson, 15 delegates represented Baltic Union, 12 delegates — Estonian Conference, 28 delegates — Latvian Conference and 7 delegates Lithuanian Conference. 64 delegates registered for the constituency session.…
