• Health Evangelism Training Camp in the BAUC

Health Evangelism Training Camp What is an Adventist Health Message? Is it only for Adventists or can it benefit others as well? How to have a balanced and Christ-centered approach in Health Ministry? Why does this message that should unite us, sometimes cause conflicts? What is a Health EXPO and how to organise one? What can I do to answer Jesus’ call: “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give” (Matthew 10:8)? And where can I learn about it? Have you ever asked these questions? I think, many Adventists have, and therefore, we were looking for the opportunities…

  • Conference: Children & Church – Discipleship Path

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” reads Karen Holford (Family Ministries Director for the Trans-European Division) Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:3, and says that Jesus does not tell children to become like adults, but tells adults to be like children. Jesus valued children. While He was preaching, children could see the parables happening before their own eyes; they did not have to sit in uncomfortable church pews, where in many cases the only thing they can see, is the back of the pew before them. “Each church service brings children a step closer to God or…

  • Reflections and plans

On 29 November BAUC leaders of Children’s Ministry Department came together to reflect how we did this year, and to discuss plans for the next. We started off with a short thought about different noises in our lives and read the story in Matthew 21: 12 – 16 where priests and elders were not at all disturbed by the noises the money changers and traders made, while they were greatly troubled by children’s shouts when they praised Jesus for His miraculous work by healing the sick. It brought us to the question: Do we nowadays value children in a church? Because if we do, then the ultimate goal of ours…

  • Arise and shine!

Arise and Shine was the theme of the first Women’s Ministries Conference in the Baltics. The idea of having a conference for sisters from our Adventist churches in the Baltics was born about a year ago when some of us could participate in the first TED WM conference in Slovenia. Having been inspired and touched by the sermons given by Raquel Arrais (Associate Director for Women’s Ministries at the General Conference of SDA) we wanted more women to hear her and be empowered to be the women God designed them to be, and to be encouraged to do the work God envisioned them to do. At the opening meeting of…

  • Impact Day in BAUC

Being on this Earth, Jesus spent more time on healing than preaching. His compassionate heart felt the need of people to be whole; to be well spiritually, physically, socially and emotionally. He did not just touch the body of a sick person, He touched their soul and mind. The word Jesus used for ‘save’ also means ‘heal’. Being the disciples of Him, I think, this is the work He calls us to do – to help those around us to have the life to the full (John 10:10). According to World Health Organisation (WHO) 50% of illnesses are caused by people’s lifestyle; or in other words – people could be…

  • Children’s Ministries’ leaders came together.

On 16 November Children Ministries’ leaders of the three conferences of the BAUC came together in Riga to take part in a Messy Church experience organised by the Latvian Conference and conducted by Liepaja church. After half day full of different activities, singing and sharing, the leaders came together to the ‘upper room’ to listen to each other, pray for each other, have a look at new materials, and to make plans together for the future. We shared our joys and challenges, prayed together for the work God has invited us to do, and it was our common desire that we could cooperate more in the future, so that the children from…

  • WM Leadership Seminar

Women’s Ministry in our worldwide Church has been created to nurture, facilitate, and support women in their Christian lives as disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His World Church (GC WM Department). Women, being active in church as Sabbath school teachers, deaconesses, pathfinders’ leaders, choir conductors, etc., are striving for excellence in the work of God, and they recognise their need for effective leadership skills training. That is why on one beautiful Sabbath morning in October about 75 women from Latvia and some from Estonia came together to take part in a Leadership Seminar in Riga led by Clair Sanches – Schutte the Director of TED Women’s Ministry Department.…
